Straight from Victoria’s own Senior Commission are two
professionals who recognized a need to provide good information to our senior
residents. Dan McInerny, an attorney, and Jim Pehringer, an audiologist, have organized a group of
professionals dedicated to speaking to the issues facing today’s seniors. They
are offering their knowledge free of charge, as community volunteers in evening
seminars through Victoria’s Park and Recreation department. Each program will be at the Acorn House
8475 Kochia Lane. From 7-8 p.m.

Trusts, taxes, risk

The first program is
tonight (Thursday, July 10) and the topic is estate and incapacity planning.
McInery will discuss ways to identify and empower the “go to” people in your
lives, discuss probate and why you should consider avoiding it, and trusts and
taxes.

Financial and insurance
advisor Mark Sanda will discuss strategies to make your nest egg last through
your lifetime, discuss long term care insurance, the Minnesota Partnership
Program, and how to avoid stock market risk.

Look, listen, learn

The second program in the Senior Solutions series is Thursday,
Aug. 21. It will feature Jim Pehringer,
and audiologist, Chandra Miller, a chiropractor, and Chris Freed, an optometrist.
Each will discuss and present new technologies and methods available to
maximize hearing, wellness/mobility, and vision for seniors.

The Senior Solutions
Group is made up of five
Carver County professionals who want to provide relevant
information in their fields of expertise and experience to area seniors and
their loved ones.

The sessions are
informational and informal with no sales pitches involved.

Victoria Senior Commission
believes there are solutions to problems that fall within our residents’ areas
of expertise that many seniors and their families aren't aware of or are
sadly misinformed about; that ignorance
is not bliss; and our best, happiest
friends/ neighbors/clients/patients are informed about what's out there to help
all of us better deal with the inevitable facts of growing older.
