What a great name! I know that the Chanhassen students will be proud to bear the name of the Storms. My family has done it for years.

Very cool!! What better mascot for a Minnesota Team than the weather! Great creativity and thought went into this. Kudos to those who came up with the idea and creation.

At last night's Victoria

At last night's Victoria City Council meeting, eight residents spoke during Open Forum, providing feedback--at times emotional--about the Victoria Field House. All agreed that it is an asset to the community, though there were a variety of opinions about the possible lease or sale, and who the ideal tenant would be.

As a result of the citizen concern, the city will have a town hall meeting in the near future. Finally! I think a lot of people have felt left out of the discussion.

It's good to see the community stepping forward and asking questions of their city council, and the council in turn, being more accessible to citizens. I think that's one of the cornerstones of creating and encouraging community --creating an environment in which residents come together on a regular basis to talk about these sorts of issues. So a Town Hall meeting is a good place to begin.

Thanks for the comment and congratulations for being the first Victoria resident to past a comment on VictoriaTownSquare.com.

By the way, the District 112 school board discussed the Field House in a closed session Thursday night. According to Superintendent David Jennings, the city of Victoria has asked for clarification regarding some of the things in the offer District 112 has made for the field house. The school board has directed school administration to continue discussions with the city regarding the Field House.

The Victoria fieldhouse was

The Victoria fieldhouse was intended to benefit the citizens of a growing community. Why can't we take a loss for a few years while we grow. The new downtown will also be expensive, but no one seems to question that. In time a fieldhouse will be an attraction for families and if Victoria doesn't have one we will not attract new residents.I know for sure that if the fieldhouse goes,I WILL move from Victoria.
