Check your calendars - does yours say Sept. 14? Mine does. But the folks at Von Maur in Eden Prairie have jumped ahead more than THREE months. There is a fully decorated Christmas tree - and several Santas and ornaments - on display in their store.
Does anyone else think it's just too early to start thinking about the Christmas holiday?
And I thought my mother-in-law was welcoming fall much too early with her August Halloween decorations.

Back to page topUgh. It is too early for Christmas decorations in department stores. By the time November gets here, I'm sick of Christmas music, ornaments, the whole deal. When I worked at Dayton's I thought it was funny that on Oct. 31, midnight, all the visual presentation folks stayed up all night to take down the Halloween stuff, and put Christmas up in its place. It was like magic. I thought that was early.
But it goes along with back to school being advertised around July 4. It's madness.
I believe in retail therapy but things have gotten a little manic with Christmas. Everyone. Slow down. Take a breath.
