After seeing our friend Heidi's garden and landdscaping, my DH and I were reinspired to reimagine our backyard "garden fairyland." After the first excitement of emerging tulips (quickly eaten and enjoyed by the deer) and daffodils, hosta (quickly eaten and enjoyed by the deer) the showy peonies and weigelas, we got complacent about weeding and feeding and tending to the actual upkeep of the garden. (But I know I'm not the only one!)
Is it Thursday already? Just wanted to check in and report that my neighborhood's National Night Out was a lot of fun. We see each other all the time, coming and going, but never have time to chat. So we gathered at the Jensens, in their driveway, sat on lawn chairs and had our potluck, and caught up on everybody's doings.
Hey, who else will be out with the neighbors tonight? It's National Night Out but the first time my neighborhood in Tonka Bay will participate. Oh, we've gotten together sporadically over the years with the graduation parties, weddings, and anniversaries. But this is the first time we've officially gotten together for this annual event. I'm bringing Cowboy Caviar to pass around with scoop chips.
Take some photos of your neighborhood Night Out and email them to me by Thursday a.m., at uzuege@swpub.com and we'll do a cool slideshow!
Deb Zeller is one of the most facinating people I know. Just spent a morning with her in her Deer Run home studio and I left feeling more creative and energized because the woman is a carrier for zest and enthusiasm.
Madison Schumacher and I visited this year's Girl Scout Twilight Camp at Lake Minnewashta Regional Park. Madison will be an eighth grader this year at Chaska Middle School, and is writing about the camp for the Chanhassen Villager's July 31 edition. I was her photographer.
It's the coffee talking
Well, I don't know about you, but the best thing to happen to downtown Victoria would be a grocery store downtown. Would traffic be messier, snarlier, forcing people to (gasp) walk more than a half block in any one direction?
Hi Everyone:
Nothing new to report this morning from the World Headquarters of Unsie's mind. But I'm at my home computer, a MAC, and wanted to play around a bit with the Website. I'm wondering if I can upload photos from my IPhoto files.
This is my experiment. Bear with me. Hee hee. You'll see what I mean shortly.
OK. So I'm going in. I'm going to do the voodoo that is HTML and all that it is meant to be or Java Script, or whatever it is called. Can't keep everything straight you know.
Hi everyone. My last post was last Saturday. Where does the time go? There must be two kinds of people--those who live each day, and those who sit on their butts and blog about the life they don't have, each day.
I'm too busy to blog everyday, aren't you? I'm not sure who reads all the trillion billion blogs in the world, but I can tell you most of them are boring.
Did you know today is former Beatle George Harrison's birthday? The FM radio station has been playing cuts from his myriad albums all day.
Is it true he died in 2001? Has it been that long? I better look that up on the Web. If it's true, well, all I can say is, where did the time go?
Hi, it's me, your Victoria Town Square Web master in training. I don't know about you but I might have to rent a couple teens who are tech savvy so I can be a semi-competent driver on the wild freeway known as the Internet.
I've been trying to master this online Web newspaper called Victoria Town Square for several months. I tried to ignore it last year, but darn it, it didn't go away, so I've given in. When you think about it, an online newspaper should be the easiest and simplest way ever to communicate with everyone in the community.
